Goodbye to the war Apple and Samsung for the patent of the iPhone

The two technological giants settle their last lawsuit after the verdict of last May that condemned the Korean to pay the Cupertino company 538 million

End the 'seven year war' between Apple and Samsung . The two technological giants make peace after several disputes in the courts and millions of dollars in paying lawyers. The Cupertino company and the Korean company have reached an agreement to settle their latest litigation, a case of patent plagiarism of smartphone designs.

The agreement comes after the verdict of last May that condemned Samsung to pay Apple 538 million for copying the design of the Iphone . Now the companies "have agreed to withdraw and resolve their remaining demands and resources in this matter," said a statement made public Thursday.

It should be remembered that Aple had sued Samsung for "copying" the original design of their Iphone. The American accused the South Korean of employing design patents as the rounded appearance of the corner s, the design of the bezel that holds the screen to the rest of the phone and the layout of the icons of the applications on the screen.

Both now have agreed a truce after the last victory of the Californians. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed and neither of the two companies commented on the brief court order that sent a litigation dating back to 2011.

In 2012, a US court gave the reason to Apple and ordered the South Korean company to compensate him with 1.050 million dollars (about 907 million euros) for the benefits obtained by the commercialization of eleven models, including the Galaxy S II .

Three years later, Samsung compensated Apple with more than 548 million dollars (473 million euros) and achieved in 2016 that the Supreme Court of the United States exempted him from paying an additional 399 million dollars (344 million euros) considering that the plagiarism only responded to a small part of the devices.

The litigation then returned to a lower jurisdiction, the San José court, which on May 25 ordered Samsung to make a new payment of 538 million dollars (465 million euros).
